Functional Resilience (75 Minutes) This practice focuses on building physical capacity and long-term joint health by counteracting the postural wear and tear of daily life.
Accessibility: Slow, compound physical movements. Scalable for everyone, from those managing minor injuries to those seeking a deep physical challenge. This practice is a largely accessible way to embody and ground.
Props: A wall and a chair.
What We Do: We take four fundamental daily movements (reaching forward or going from laying down to standing) and run them through a three-round progression. We prioritize Time Under Tension, starting with supported alignment, adding physical challenge, and finishing with minimal cues for deep, concentrated effort.
The Real-World Use: You will learn how to turn everyday actions, such as lifting groceries or standing upright, into exercise. You’ll leave the class knowing how to protect vulnerable joints (knees, low back, rotator cuffs) when you use them. As a bonus, the intense physical focus required is grounding. Functional conditioning invites us to embody with relatively high accessibility.
